The mid of March 2013 was clearly marked on my small calendar. For 3 days to be precise, the Ajo Kalidi clan would gather at the Seaview Terrace 1 & 2, Aloha, Singapore.
The Ajo Kalidi clan is big and the 2 chalets would be large enough to accomodate. All in all, 8 families came – by car, by ferry and by plane. And we learnt for the next 3 days how to fill our time with family-friendly activities.
The Singapore Garden-By-The-Bay beckoned all of us the next day. 24 people hopped on to a huge bus chartered for 35. We went merrily on to the Garden.
The visit was indeed eye-opening. It is a unique man-made garden – recently declared open – and definitely spectacular in its design. We should have gone into the two domes. But we did not. Perhaps next time.
Ung Dasril brought 2 giant kerupuk. His giant kerupuk got him a lot of attention and a lot of smiles at the airport. The question is how do we eat 2 giant kerupuk? The answer is simple – one bite at a time, of course!
Did the family gathering achieve its main intention of establishing a closer bond? I think so. I hope so. We would gather again, of course. Other times. Other places, naturally.
Cheers and big hugs to the families that came!
